Bear Diversion
| This old access road to the Bear Diversion Dam is rated "easiest" but varies from year to year. It is maintained by Southern California Edison Company to provide access to the hydroelectric facilities. The road ends after two miles at the Bear Diversion Dam where overnight camping is permitted. This is a popular area for hiking, fishing and picnicking. The trail heading east accesses the John Muir Wilderness where wilderness permits for overnight use are required. This 3 mile trail is great for an easy day trip and accessible to most 4x4 vehicles. |
